Angela Masterson Jones

On May 20, Angela Masterson Jones, four-time WIP alumna, graduated from Eckerd College with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and a minor in Film Studies, High Honors, Honors Program, and the Excellence Award in Creative Writing. She also served as the Program for Experienced Learners’ graduating student speaker at Commencement on South Beach (http://www.eckerd.edu/commencement/12/remarks/jones.php).
 
Last spring Angie’s free-verse poem “I am my own dog” was awarded honorable mention in the Writers Alliance of Gainesville poetry contest and appeared in the 2012 Bacopa Literary Review (http://www.writersalliance.org/bacopa.html). Her rhyming poem “Catharsis” tied for runner-up in The Lyric College Poetry Contest (2011) and was published in the magazine’s online journal (http://www.thelyricmagazine.com/colleage_all.html). In June, her poem “Attachment” debuted in the inaugural edition of University of Tampa’s online literary journal, Tampa Review Online (TROn) (http://tampareviewonline.org/poetry/attachment/). Her poems “beyond extinction,” which she wrote in high school, and “Observing Cat,” part of her college thesis, are forthcoming in the 2012 Sanctuary: Arts Journal of the Southern Regional Honors Council (http://www.srhconline.org/index.php?page=Sanctuary).
