Best-Selling Novelist Dennis Lehane Protects Kids with Novel-Tee Shirts

January 9, 2009

Dennis Lehane, whose newly released THE GIVEN DAY has already appeared at the top of numerous best-seller lists, has joined forces with PROTECT to produce a series of T-shirts based on his previous best-sellers and raise money for America’s first political lobby for child protection.

Not only can fans join Kenzie & Gennaro Investigation, they can also become a member of Shutter Island‘s Ashecliffe Hospital and enjoy the more pleasant memories of Mystic River‘s Hurley’s Drive-In.

PROTECT’s Novel-Tee program raises funds by offering readers T-shirts that look like they’re from some of their favorite novels by their favorite authors. Andrew Vachss, Chuck Klosterman, Joe R. Lansdale and Nick Hornby all have offered shirts through the program.

T-shirts sell for $25 (retail) plus shipping or $13 (wholesale to bookstores). All funds raised through this program go to support PROTECT.

To order the shirts and wear you in-the-know status visit www.10ap.com. Learn more about PROTECT at www.protect.org.

ABOUT PROTECT

PROTECT, The National Association to PROTECT children, is a national pro-children, anti-crime membership association dedicated to providing political strength and leadership for the protection of abused, exploited, and neglected children. We are founded on the belief that our first and most sacred obligation as parents, citizens, and members of the human species is the protection of children from harm. We believe that this must be done with the same formidable resources and seriousness of purpose with which we defend our other vital interests, whether financial, constitutional or ideological. PROTECT is structured as an IRS social welfare organization, or 501 (c)(4).

Dennis Lehane is the co-director of the Writers in Paradise writers’ conference.
